In the digital age, we've become more connected to people around the globe through social media and the internet, but, in many cases, we've lost our ability to connect and understand the needs of those closest to us, or those in most need of human interaction. We don't have to memorize phone numbers anymore, and fewer and fewer of us ever even call and talk to each other-We send text messages, or post social media updates, send evites instead of cards. Lend A Hand was founded on the idea that sometimes the best way to actually help someone is to show up, be available, smile and listen to their needs. Our goal is to help people in our community, especially senior citizens, who perhaps have been left behind because their communication skills were developed long before the internet and computers existed. Or perhaps, they still rely on establishing a relationship through handshakes and smiles and face to face communication, not friend requests. We want to help people, regardless of income or social standing, and interject some humanity into a technology driven society. We also are aware that asking for someone to lend a hand to run errands, pick up a forgotten school lunch, or accompanying an elderly or disabled loved one to a doctor's appointment or religious service means acknowledging we aren't super people capable of doing it all, all the time, but are, in fact, human, with limitations, and asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength. For this blog addition, Lend A Hand would like to share a recent customer experience. Our clients needed assistance getting moved, and due to some health constraints, they needed this moving completed within a limited amount of time to ensure there were no additional stressors in the situation. According to psychological studies, moving can be one of the most stressful experiences an individual can go through and Lend A Hand wanted to make sure this process was as stress-free as possible for our clients. We genuinely care about people's well-being and made sure we took care of all the heavy lifting for our clients while maintaining what our clients described as "a great attitude." Here at Lend A Hand we want to understand and accommodate our clients on a personal level, whether that be through planning and organization of a stressful and important event, facilitating transportation or accompanying our clients to appointments. In addition to our over 20 different types of services, we are always willing and available to do estimates for bigger, more labor intensive tasks such as move/make ready, organizing, vacation house/pet sitting as well as many more. Lend A Hand is always looking for better ways to promote our services, and as part of that process, we incorporate a variety of marketing methods that are both traditional and social media based. While building and reviewing an internet based ad that required us to describe our services, our company came across the following description of our services for the website:

While this description may be a slight exaggeration of our capabilities at Lend A Hand, it does encapsulate our goal, to offer a specialized and smiling service that always delivers more than expected, and makes each of our customers feel special, like they could save the world or at least save their cherished free time with our company's help. No Broken Records
Lend A Hand is constantly updating and adding services to better serve our clients. For this blog post, we'd like to share a recent "outing" one of our VIP client requested. This client is both vision and hearing impaired, and wanted to go pick out country western records from a local antique mall. Lend A Hand arranged for our VIP client to have a special area available for his personal assistant and himself to be able to look through records, reading through each record title, artists and/or songs with our client, and then inspecting each record for scratches or cracks once our client selected the record for purchase. Lend A Hand's goal was for our client to have an enjoyable and equitable experience. For many people who have never experienced or known someone with a disability, it can be a very life limiting experience and Lend A Hand's goal is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and our veterans. We want our service to be a life-improving experience. We love what we do. We're doing what we love. Kindness Counts
Lend A Hand has started a 365 day kindness challenge. We have challenged ourselves and our friends, family and clients to do one kind thing for someone each day and make a positive impact in people's lives. We will be giving away one free errand per month from everyone who shares their kind act with us on our Facebook page. The errand must be used in the Tulsa city limits. If someone from outside the Tulsa area wins, they will have the option to donate the errand to an assisted living/retirement home in Tulsa.
